Quick Beef Bolognaise Spaghetti with Beef Tomatoes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (500 ml) fresh Savoura Beef tomatoes, finely diced 
  • 2 cups (500 ml) ground beef 
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) olive oil 
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) minced garlic 
  • 1 cup (250 ml) chopped onion 
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) fresh basil, finely sliced 
  • Salt, to taste 
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste 
  • ⅓ cup (80 ml) grated Parmesan 
  • 2 cups (500 ml) spaghetti (about 400 g) 

Preparation

  1. Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package directions until al dente. 
  2. Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. 
  3. Sauté the onion and garlic for 2 to 3 minutes, until soft and fragrant. 
  4. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until lightly browned. 
  5. Stir in the diced Beef tomatoes. 
  6. Season with salt and pepper. 
  7. Simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring often, until the tomatoes break down and the sauce becomes rich and well blended. 
  8. Add the fresh basil just before serving. 
  9. Drain the spaghetti and toss directly with the bolognese sauce. 
  10. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan.
